The Bavarian Bakehouse produces white and wholemeal breads which are unmatched due to the quality
of our flours and our traditional hard crafted methods. Our white breads consist of Italian loaves and French sticks which are very popular with Italian restaurants, traditionally baked 400g Crusty Split loaves and golden Vienna loaves.

 

In our wholemeal range we offer a tin baked Farmhouse loaf, a lovely larger 800g Brown Bloomer and a very popular Plusminus which combines wholemeal wheand and rye flours producing appetising bread which is high in fibre and low in calories. Additionally we offern an Organic White and Organic Wholemeal loaf, very popular in whole food ouftlets and a large while Sourdough.

We are most proud of our extensive range of speciality breads, each made individually daily to their own specific recipe; our range includes our Piador stick made with, sweet pepper and herbs, a spiced Landbrot which is made with rye and wheat and flavoured with cardamom and coriander and has a chewy open crumb and a wonderful tangy sourdough flavour, our Onion bread which is a traditional wholemeal crusty loaf infused with kibbled onions and finally our newest bread, a Sultana and Walnut loaf made from our soft floavoursome malted bread with ripe sultanas and walnut throughout.

To complement our wide range of artisan breads we offer a number of individual modern classic cakes, all freshly made with only the best of ingredients and the highest attention to detail. The quantity and resulting taste of our pastry based cakes are unsurpassed and in high demand by our customers; apple and fruit square, empire biscuits and strawberry tarts made with creme patisserie. Also very popular is our sponge range; carrot cake, apple and almod slice, rhubarb and cherry slice and decandent brownie slice. Our goughnut are sugared or iced and come with or without a cream filling, and to finish off we have a traditionally made crisp and raisin strudel.

Our cake range would not be complete without cream cakes; a meal sized chocolate eclair, cream horns, vanilla slices and crystal shells, and a final nod to our German roots with our massive strawberry slice and black forest slice made with kirsch flavoured fresh cream.

Sticking to our German bread making roots we bake a wide range of rye breads varying from light to dark. Rye is a grain similar to our wheat but with lower gluten content and a higher proportion of soluble fibre. Our rye breads are baker’s yeast free and are made using our rye sourdough starter which provides the fermentation and leavening agent, giving the bread a wonderful tangy flavour and staisfying substantial texture missing from so many instant breads.

Our rye range includes light rye breads like the bloomer shaped Kasseler or the round Franken loaf or at the darker end of the rye range we have the Bavarian Dark and the unique 100% Rye, which is wonderful with cheese. Also in this range we have our Sweet and Sour and our Caraway loaf which is a light rye with caraway seeds and our Russina Bloomer which is made with rye flour, rye meal and wheat.

We offer a wonderful range of artisan rolls replicating our bread offering; white, wholemeal, rye, spelt, piador and French. In addition we do a high quality Scottish morning roll and an oat crusted rustic roll, both in two sizes offerings. For something different we do knotted white and brown rolls with seasame or poppy seed topping, traditionally baked Ciabattas, pleated eggs rolls with poppy seed crust and wonderful rosemary focaccia; once tasted never forgotten.

We produce a wide selection of croissants and pastries to suit any occasion. Our generously portioned croissants are like the rest of our range made fresh daily.

We offer them glazed or unglazed and our customers tell us they love the soft buttery flavour with a light crisp crust. Our fresh Danish pastries are topped with strawberry, pear, apple or apricot and for nut lovers; we produce a delicious pecan and maple plait.

Currently we offer a wonderful deep dish apple pie and a range of fresh cream tortes and logs which generously serve eighteen portions. We offer them in an array of wonderful flavours; Raspberry, Strawberry, Black forest, Pear Helene, Chocolate Cream, Mandarin, Hazelnut, Lemon Cream, perfect for a Birthday celebration, Christening or festive celebration.

Included in this category is our increasingly popular spelt range, as well as spelt rolls we produce a tin baked Spelt and Honey loaf, a Spelt baguette and a Spelt bloomer. Although spelt does contain a moderate amount of gluten, as a less processed grain it is in demand with people with allergies, wheat intolerances and we have had feedback that some coeliacs find it suitable.

In response to customer requests we have added Soda Bread to our product range; Soda Bread is a yeast free option as bicarbonate of soda is used as the rising agent. Our Soda is available in white and wholemeal. Finally a family favourite is the Pan the Campagne which is a 100% white sourdough and baker’s yeast free bread, fermented and fed for three days to give it a light and tasty texture.

Our bagels come in two sizes, regular and giant and can be taken plain, with poppy seed, sesame seed or onion crsut.

Our range wouldn’t be complete without a traditional German Pretzel; made with wheat with a shiny crisp coating. Our pretzel comes in a unique knot like shape and is topped with salt crystals.

Like al Bavarian Bakehouse products, our scones are hand produced and a generous size. Made daily we provide them in three varieties of grains; white, wholemeal and spelt with each having an option of plain or fruit, and the most decadent of all cream filled!

Our seasonal selection is currently focused mainly on Christmas with traditional German Stollen in marzipan and butter flavours. Our mince pies fly out of the door during the festive period with almond short crust pastry and puff pastry. In 2012 we have introduced Red Velvet Cup cakes for Valentines and look to expanding the seasonality of our product line.

Products

At the Bavarian Bakehouse, we produce a large range of breads and rolls using wheat, rye and spelt grains. Our breads and rolls are all made by hand and we focus on making our bread preservative and additive free. We only use butter, olive oil, vegetable and vegetable margarine and avoid the use of animal fats, making our bread suitable for Vegans and Vegetarian.

Over the years we have complimented our breads with bagels, croissants, scones and a number of traditional cakes in fabulous German portions! Our offering is completed by our large fresh cream gateaux and logs serving 18 hungry people generously.
